It's an old story about how Boston all too often doesn't understand the problems of our district. For example, what may seem like a small cut in Chapter 70 monies in Boston translates to a huge chunk out of our education budget here in western Massachusetts. Someone has to understand this and try to stop it. As a city councilor in Agawam for over 6 years I have dealt with the budget problems of our town/city. Where are the state funds going to come from? How are we going to get the education budget funds for our children and still keep our taxes down? How are we going to pay for new schools, DPW facilities and expand sewers? How are we going to pay for state mandates when they don't give us the money?
